Gundam Wing deserves some respect. For me, it was the introduction into Mobile Suit Gundam. It was entertaining to be sure, with interesting machines and odd characters. More interesting than DBZ for its plot and what is best described as a fair representation of Mobile Suit Gundam's "new human race".
What makes it only good but not great is that this different human race was best represented in the Universal Century. The violent nature of the human race was better shown in the first few shows, instead of painting an overly optimistic picture of our future like Gundam Wing eventually did.

Gundam Wing is only good and NOT great because its predecessors still do it better.

Yeah.
Like one of my previous(looks at his counter, puzzled) posts said, "if GWing is the worst Gundam show, then in Japan, Gundam must be all that's shown!" It may not be the best Gundam show ever, I can't say, but I can say that it is some of the best **** anime I have ever seen!

It coulda been better in a lot of ways, yes... but I think that (I'm not sure who) was correct, it was sort of a Gundam Light type of thing, and for that purpose, it works.
